Indonesian Coffee ......



Indonesia has its various region that has special character for each product. I found a brief information regarding Indonesian Specialty Coffee based on each region and two main species, as follows:

ARABICA:

1. Gayo Coffee
Geographical area : Gayo Highland, Central Aceh, Northern Sumatra
Altitude : 1,000 to 1,500 m
Very good aroma and complex coffee flavor, good acidity and rich body




2. Mandheling Coffee
Geographical area : Bukit Barisan Highland, North Sumatra
Altitude : 1,000 to 1,600 m
Very good aroma and complex flavor, light acidity and strong body

3. Lintong Coffee
Geographical area : Bukit Barisan Highland, North Sumatra, surrounding Lake Toba
Altitude : 1,300 to 1,600 m
Excellent aroma and complex flavor, medium acidity and excellent body




4. Java Coffee (well known as Jampit)
Geographical area : Ijen Highland, East Java
Altitude : 1,000 to 1,500 m
Good aroma and coffee flavor, high clean acidity and medium body, spicy tone




5. Toraja Coffee
Geographical area : Tana Toraja Highland, South Sulawesi
Altitude : 1,000 to 1,700 m
Excellent aroma and coffee flavor, high acidity and medium body, balance bitter hints



6. Kalosi Coffee
Geographical area : Tana Toraja Highland (southern part), South Sulawesi
Altitude : 1,000 to 1,600 m
Good aroma and coffee flavor, medium high acidity and medium body

7. Bali Coffee (well known as Kintamani)
Geographical area : Kintamani Highland
Altitude : 1,000 to 1,500 m
Good aroma and coffee flavor, medium to high acidity and medium body




8. Flores Coffee (well known as Bajawa)
Geographical area : Flores Highland, Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara
Altitude : 1,000 to 1,500 m
Good aroma and excellent coffee flavor, medium acidity and strong body

ROBUSTA:

1. Jawa Robusta WIB
Geographical area : Central Java and East Java
Altitude : 300 to 800 m
Mild robusta flavor, less bitter and astringent, good body

2. Bali Robusta WIB
Geographical area : Pupuan
Altitude : 500 to 900 m
Mild robusta flavour, less astringent and bitterness, clean good body

3. Lampung Robusta Coffee AP
Geographical area : Bukit Barisan Highland (Southern Sumatra)
Altitude : 500 to 1,100 m
Good robusta flavor, strong body, bitter hints

4. Flores Robusta Coffee AP
Geographical area : Slope areas of several volcanoes, mid and west part of Flores Island
Altitude : 600 to 1,200 m
Good aroma and coffee flavor, good body, neutral taste
